110 years ago today, the renowned cricket commentator Brian Alexander Johnston CBE MC aka 'Johnners' was born at the Old Rectory in Little Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.
His grandfather was Governor of the Bank of England. Brian was educated at Eton and Oxford and during the Second World War, fought as a member of the Grenadier Guards; he was awarded the Military Cross for his courage during combat.
He later joined the commentary team on the hugely popular radio programme 'BBC Test Match Special.'....
